About SG School Holidays

A single, reliable place to check when the Singapore school holidays and public holidays fall, and to plan the year around them.

What this site is, and who it is for

SG School Holidays puts the MOE school calendar and Singapore's gazetted public holidays on the same set of pages, then adds the tools that turn dates into a plan: the Leave Optimizer, the childcare gap calculator, and calendar downloads. It is built for working parents lining annual leave up against the school breaks, for anyone who needs term dates before booking a flight, and for the person who only wants to know when the next holiday falls.

Where the dates come from

Every date traces back to a named document rather than to another calendar.

• School terms, semesters and scheduled school holidays come from the MOE press release that publishes each year's calendar, including the differences between primary, secondary and JC. The 2026 release was published on 30 July 2025 and the 2027 release on 14 July 2026. MOE's own school calendar page carries the current one.
• Public holidays come from the consolidated public-holiday dataset on data.gov.sg, read live, and are checked against the list MOM publishes. That includes the observed Monday when a holiday falls on a Sunday, which is shown as its own dated entry rather than folded into the original.
• National exam windows come from SEAB, from the important-dates page and the per-exam timetables. Where SEAB has not published a timetable yet, the window is left off the page rather than estimated from last year.
• Childcare leave entitlements, used by the childcare-gap pages, come from MOM rather than from a summary of it.

How it is verified, and how often it updates

The public-holiday feed is read live from data.gov.sg and re-fetched at most once a day, and the year pages rebuild on an hourly cycle, so a change on the portal reaches this site within a day of appearing there. The MOE calendar is not a feed. It is a press release, so each term start, term end and break is transcribed by hand from the release and checked against it line by line before it goes live, and a new year is added only once the release exists. When a feed and a government document disagree, the document wins.

We check the gazette, not only the feed

A government open-data feed can lag the gazette it is meant to reflect, which is why the feed is never the last word here. That is not hypothetical. On our sister site SG Hari Raya, the same consolidated dataset on data.gov.sg still serves the superseded April 2021 gazette for 2022, and the correct dates from MOM's October 2021 re-gazette are applied in the data adapter instead. The full account is on that site's about page. The dates involved are in 2022, which this site does not publish, so no override is applied here. If one ever becomes necessary, it will be written up the same way rather than applied quietly.

Editorial independence

Nothing on this site is a paid placement. There is no sponsored content, no paid inclusion in any list of camps, schools or activities, and no arrangement with an operator to be mentioned or ranked. Where advertising runs it is labelled as advertising and sits outside the article, and it has no bearing on what a page says or which things get named.

What this site does not do

It is not MOE, and it cannot tell you how a rule applies to your child. It does not advise on P1 registration, school placement or appeals, and it does not give employment or HR advice about leave entitlement. Schools also add their own closure days, school-based activities and make-up days on top of the MOE calendar, so anything school-specific has to be confirmed with your child's school. For a date you are going to book or pay against, check the MOE release or data.gov.sg yourself. Both are public, and both are linked above.

The Chinese version

Every page here has a Chinese twin at /zh, translated from the same source and driven by the same dates rather than written separately. If the two ever show a different date for the same thing, that is a bug, and it is worth reporting.

Corrections

If a date here looks wrong, say so. Use the contact page and include the page you were on, the value it showed and the value you believe is right, with where you saw it. A correction with a source can be checked against the MOE release or data.gov.sg in minutes, and a confirmed one is fixed in the data layer every page reads from, so the year page, the break pages and the calendar download all change together. A wrong date is the one thing this site cannot afford.
