Weekend
The next seven days
None of the next seven days is a school holiday. The next one is Deepavali (Observed) on Monday, 9 November 2026.
A Saturday or Sunday below is marked as a weekend, not as a school holiday. School is closed either way, but only one of the two is a day MOE gives back.
The next school holiday
Monday, 9 November 2026 · Public holiday
This one is a gazetted public holiday, so schools and workplaces close together.
Which term is running
Term 4 is running. It started on 14 September 2026 and its last day is 20 November 2026, 28 days from now.
Those are the primary and secondary term dates. JC Year 1 and MI Year 1 start Term 1 in February and finish later in November; JC Year 2 and MI Year 3 end Term 4 with the A-Level examinations, on no fixed date.
School holiday or public holiday
A public holiday is gazetted, and schools and workplaces close together. A school holiday is scheduled by MOE, and only the schools close. The March, June, September and year-end breaks are the second kind, and so are the single days for Youth Day, the day after National Day, Teachers' Day and Children's Day. Those single days are the ones people miss, because they never appear on a public holiday list.
Term and holiday dates are from the official MOE press release; public holidays are from data.gov.sg. The MOE calendar for 2026

Does a weekend count as a school holiday?
No. A weekend is not a school day to begin with, so it is not a holiday either. A school holiday is a school day that MOE closes. This page answers the two separately, so a Saturday never counts as a holiday here.
What is the difference between a school holiday and a public holiday?
A public holiday is gazetted and closes the country. A school holiday is set by MOE and closes only the schools. Youth Day, the day after National Day, Teachers' Day and Children's Day are all the second kind, which is why the schools shut while the offices do not.
