What to Do During the June School Holidays 2027 in Singapore

The June school holidays are the longest mid-year break, running from the end of May to the end of June, about four weeks. That is enough time to do everything, and, if you do not plan, enough time to hear "I'm bored" on repeat by the second week. This guide is the plan: how families in Singapore actually fill four weeks without spending a fortune or losing their minds.
The June 2027 break at a glance
| Detail | |
|---|---|
| Dates | 29 May to 27 June 2027 for primary and secondary |
| Length | 30 days |
| Public holidays inside it | None |
| Best for | The one big family trip, holiday camps, and slow days at home |
| Book early | Flights, camps, and popular attractions during the June peak |
Dates from MOE's school terms and holidays for 2027. Junior colleges and Millennia Institute break on the same June dates, ending Term II on Friday 28 May and starting Term III on Monday 28 June; where they differ is the start and end of their year, so check your child's level on the 2027 calendar.
The third row is the one that changes your planning. Checked against the gazetted holidays, not one public holiday falls between 29 May and 27 June 2027. Vesak Day lands on 20 May and Hari Raya Haji on 17 May, both more than a week before the break opens. So there is no bridge to exploit: every day you take off during this break costs a full day of leave, which is the opposite of how the March and year-end breaks usually work.
First decide the shape of the break
You rarely get to travel, camp, and potter at home all in one break and do each well. Pick the shape first, then fill in the days.
- Travelling. June is peak season out of Singapore, so flights and hotels are dear and only get dearer the longer you wait. If a trip is the plan, book it in the first quarter of the year and take the travel week at the start of the break, before everyone is tired of the routine.
- Camps. Holiday camps fill fast once term ends. A camp does not need to cover the whole break; two or three days a week is often enough to break the monotony.
- Home. Perfectly fine, and far cheaper. The trick is a loose daily rhythm, not a packed schedule.
If you are working, line your annual leave up with the break and the public holidays around it. The free Leave Optimizer shows exactly which days to book.

If you are travelling
June is when half of Singapore flies out, so plan like it.
- Short and close. Johor Bahru, Batam, and Bintan need barely any travel time and suit shorter trips or younger children. Bali, Phuket, Kuala Lumpur, and Bangkok are the easy regional favourites.
- Book the travel week first. Take it at the start of the break while the children are fresh and camps have not filled.
- Watch the crowds. School holidays overlap across the region, so popular spots and flights sell out. Reserve early and be flexible on dates if you can.
Holiday camps worth considering
Camps buy you working days and give the children something to look forward to. The popular categories in Singapore:
- Sports and multi-activity through ActiveSG and private academies (swimming, football, tennis, climbing). Check your ActiveSG balance before you pay for anything, and check it before 2026 ends. New members who are citizens or PRs get a one-time $100 in ActiveSG credits, and citizens and PRs who logged in to MyActiveSG+ between 2 June and 31 December 2025 got a further $100 SG60 top-up. Every ActiveSG credit was extended to 31 December 2026, and unused credits roll into 2027 only if you make at least one transaction in 2026: a paid facility booking, programme registration or pass, not a free one. For a June 2027 plan, that one transaction is the difference between having the credits and not.
- Coding, robotics, and STEM, which book out early.
- Art, drama, and music, good for children who need a slower, creative week.
Book by April or May for the popular ones. You do not need five full days; a couple of half or full days a week keeps the week structured without overloading anyone. The June holiday camps guide names providers and prices.
Things to do in Singapore, without leaving the island
June is the southwest monsoon, and its weather has a pattern. Short showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon are common, and the occasional Sumatra squall, with gusts of 40 to 80 km/h, comes through between the predawn hours and midday. So put the outdoor plans in the morning, keep an indoor fallback, and move inside after lunch.
Mornings, outdoors and early
Get out before the sun is high, when the parks are quiet and bearable.
- Green spaces: the Botanic Gardens, Gardens by the Bay, East Coast Park, Jurong Lake Gardens, Bishan-Ang Mo Kio Park, and the Rail Corridor for a longer walk or cycle.
- Animals: the Singapore Zoo, Bird Paradise, River Wonders, and the Night Safari for an evening out of the heat.
- Water: the ActiveSG public pools and the free water play areas dotted around the island are a cheap, reliable win.
Afternoons, indoors and cool
This is what the libraries and museums were built for.
- Museums and galleries: the National Museum, the ArtScience Museum, the Science Centre, the Children's Museum Singapore, and the National Gallery.
- Indoor play and sport: indoor playgrounds, bowling, and ice skating at Kallang when the afternoon rain sets in.
- The neighbourhood library. Underrated, air-conditioned, and free. A stack of borrowed books carries a surprising number of quiet afternoons.
Rainy-day backups
Keep two or three easy indoor plans ready so a downpour does not derail the day. A baking afternoon, a board-game marathon, or a film with popcorn all count.
A sample week that actually works
You do not need a colour-coded spreadsheet. One anchor a day is plenty.
| Day | Morning | Afternoon |
|---|---|---|
| Mon | Park or a walk before the heat | Library and lunch at home |
| Tue | Camp | Downtime |
| Wed | Museum or the Science Centre | Baking or a friend over |
| Thu | Camp | Swimming |
| Fri | Zoo or Gardens by the Bay | Film and popcorn |
| Weekend | Family day or a short trip | Rest |
Children need less programming than we think and more downtime than we give them. Boredom is where they learn to entertain themselves, so leave real gaps.
Keep the last few days for the boring admin
The end of the June break is for the useful, unglamorous things: restocking what ran out, sorting uniforms and shoes that no longer fit, and a gentle look at any holiday homework before the panic of the final Sunday night.
Frequently asked questions
When are the June school holidays in 2027? 29 May to 27 June 2027 for primary and secondary, 30 days. Junior colleges and Millennia Institute end Term II on 28 May and start Term III on 28 June, so their June break is the same. Confirm your child's level on the 2027 MOE calendar.
Is June a good time to travel from Singapore? Yes, it is the longest break, but it is peak season, so flights and hotels are pricey and sell out. Book months ahead and take the travel week early in the break.
How do I get time off work to match the break? Block the travel week first. Be aware that no public holiday falls inside the June 2027 break, so there is nothing to bridge and every day off is a full day of leave. The leave optimizer is more useful for the rest of the year than for this break.
Is there a public holiday during the June holidays? Not in 2027. Vesak Day is 20 May and Hari Raya Haji 17 May, both more than a week before the break starts on 29 May.
Will my ActiveSG credits still be there in June 2027? Only if you make at least one paid transaction in 2026. All ActiveSG credits were extended to 31 December 2026, and unused credits roll into 2027 for members who made a facility booking, programme registration or pass purchase in 2026; free bookings do not count.
Before you plan anything, check the exact 2027 dates on the MOE calendar, and if you want the whole year in your phone, you can download the school holidays and public holidays as a calendar file.
