Singapore's 2025 school holidays are the four scheduled MOE breaks: the March, June, September and year-end holidays. The June holidays, the longest at about four weeks, run 31 May to 29 Jun. In total, 2025 has 88 scheduled school holiday days across the four breaks. Primary and secondary schools share the same dates; junior colleges and Millennia Institute differ in when their terms start and end. The polytechnics and ITE are not on this calendar at all, so a household with one child in secondary school and one in poly also needs the poly and ITE semester dates. School Holidays
When the 2025 school year starts
Primary 1 and Kindergarten 1 start on Thursday, 2 January 2025. Primary 2 to 6 and Kindergarten 2 start on Friday, 3 January 2025.
The two dates are deliberate. The youngest children get a first day with the rest of the school still at home, which is also why a household with a P1 and a P4 child needs cover for the older one on a day the younger one is already in class.

How many school holidays are there in 2025?

When does the 2025 school year start?
Term 1 begins on Thursday, 2 January 2025 for secondary schools, and for Primary 1 and Kindergarten 1. Primary 2 to 6 and Kindergarten 2 start on Friday, 3 January 2025.
When does JC start in 2025?
JC Year 1 and MI Year 1 start Term 1 on Wednesday, 5 February 2025, about a month after primary and secondary schools. MOE lists them as their own cohort with their own term dates, so the January date most families have in mind is not the one that applies to them.
When are the JC school holidays in 2025?
The March, June and September breaks are the same as for primary and secondary schools. The year-end break is not. JC Year 1 and MI Year 1 finish Term 4 on Friday, 28 November 2025, a week after everyone else, so their year-end holidays start on Saturday, 29 November 2025 rather than Saturday, 22 November 2025, and run to 31 December either way. JC Year 2 and MI Year 3 finish with the GCE A-Level examinations, on no fixed date.
Are primary, secondary and JC dates the same?
Primary and secondary schools share the same term and holiday dates. JC Year 1 and MI Year 1 start Term 1 in February and finish later in November. MI Year 2 starts in mid-January. JC Year 2 and MI Year 3 end Term 4 when the A-Level examinations end, with no fixed date.
