Singapore School Holidays 2026
The MOE school holidays for 2026, with the full academic calendar for primary, secondary, JC and MI.

Singapore's 2026 school holidays are the four scheduled MOE breaks: the March, June, September and year-end holidays. The June holidays, the longest at about four weeks, run 30 May to 28 Jun. In total, 2026 has 89 scheduled school holiday days across the four breaks. Primary and secondary schools share the same dates; junior colleges and Millennia Institute differ in when their terms start and end. The polytechnics and ITE are not on this calendar at all, so a household with one child in secondary school and one in poly also needs the poly and ITE semester dates. On top of the four breaks, MOE schedules 3 more days off school that are not public holidays, so the schools close and the offices do not. Dates are the official MOE school calendar, cross-checked with data.gov.sg.

Public holidays in 2026
School Holidays
School holidays that are not public holidays
3 days in 2026 close the schools without closing the offices. MOE schedules them, the gazette does not, so they appear on no public holiday list and every year they catch working parents out. These are the ones to check before you assume a normal school day. The set is not the same every year: 2026 has no Day after National Day and 2027 does, because 9 August 2026 is a Sunday and the Monday is already a public holiday. Compare the school-only days across both published school years to see which of them move and which drop out.
| Holiday | Date | Who is off |
|---|---|---|
| Youth Day | Monday, 6 July 20265 Jul falls on a Sunday, so the school holiday is taken on 6 Jul. | All schools |
| Teachers' Day | Friday, 4 September 2026 | All schools |
| Children's Day | Friday, 2 October 2026 | Primary schools only |
Every date above is taken from the MOE press release for 2026.
When the 2026 school year starts
Primary 1 and Kindergarten 1 start on Friday, 2 January 2026. Primary 2 to 6 and Kindergarten 2 start on Monday, 5 January 2026.
The two dates are deliberate. The youngest children get a first day with the rest of the school still at home, which is also why a household with a P1 and a P4 child needs cover for the older one on a day the younger one is already in class.
Primary & Secondary School Terms

Schools used as exam venues finish earlier
Schools used as venues for the GCE O-Level written examinations end their final term on Friday, 23 October 2026, ahead of everyone else. If your child's school is a venue, that earlier date is the one that decides your childcare.
JC Year 1 & MI Year 1 Terms
| Term | Start | End | Weeks | Holiday After |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Term 1 | 4 Feb | 13 Mar | 5 weeks | n/a |

JC Year 2 and MI Year 3 run Terms 1 to 3 on the dates above. Their Term 4 starts on Monday, 14 September 2026 and ends when the GCE A-Level examinations end, so MOE publishes no fixed last day for it. Any calendar showing one for these two cohorts has filled in a date MOE did not give.

National exams in 2026
For a household with a child sitting a national exam, the dates that matter are the exam run-up, not just the school break. Here is how the 2026 PSLE and GCE dates land against the holidays. Several fall during or right after a break.

| N-Level | Results release | 17 Dec to 21 Dec (window) | During the Year-End Holidays |
| O-Level | Results release | 13 Jan to 15 Jan (window) | Just after the Year-End Holidays |
| A-Level | Results release | 19 Feb to 23 Feb (window) | School term |

Common questions
How many school holidays are there in 2026?
There are 4 scheduled MOE breaks: the March, June, September and year-end holidays, plus the public holidays that fall on school days.
When does the 2026 school year start?
Term 1 begins on Friday, 2 January 2026 for secondary schools, and for Primary 1 and Kindergarten 1. Primary 2 to 6 and Kindergarten 2 start on Monday, 5 January 2026.
When does JC start in 2026?
JC Year 1 and MI Year 1 start Term 1 on Wednesday, 4 February 2026, about a month after primary and secondary schools. MOE lists them as their own cohort with their own term dates, so the January date most families have in mind is not the one that applies to them.
When are the JC school holidays in 2026?
The March, June and September breaks are the same as for primary and secondary schools. The year-end break is not. JC Year 1 and MI Year 1 finish Term 4 on Friday, 27 November 2026, a week after everyone else, so their year-end holidays start on Saturday, 28 November 2026 rather than Saturday, 21 November 2026, and run to 31 December either way. JC Year 2 and MI Year 3 finish with the GCE A-Level examinations, on no fixed date.
Which 2026 school holidays are not public holidays?
3: Youth Day on Monday, 6 July 2026, Teachers' Day on Friday, 4 September 2026, Children's Day on Friday, 2 October 2026. MOE schedules these, so the schools close while the offices stay open. They appear on no public holiday list, which is why working parents keep getting caught by them.
Are primary, secondary and JC dates the same?
Primary and secondary schools share the same term and holiday dates. JC Year 1 and MI Year 1 start Term 1 in February and finish later in November. MI Year 2 starts in mid-January. JC Year 2 and MI Year 3 end Term 4 when the A-Level examinations end, with no fixed date.
How long is the June school holiday in 2026?
The June holidays run about 4 weeks, the longest school break of the year, splitting the two semesters. Primary and secondary schools share these dates.
When do the 2026 year-end school holidays start?
The year-end holidays begin on 21 Nov, once the final term ends, and run to 31 December before the new school year starts in January.
